Does anyone know of any female maltese dogs available for service around Los Angeles?

March 4, 2010 - 11:11 pm 2 Comments

If anyone knows of any female maltese searching for a maltese stud around Los Angeles area please let me know! I have a 1 1/2 year old very friendly maltese stud.

Thanxs!

now you’ve done it. you will discover the ire of the dog people. even if all you’re doing is a little matchmaking, one does not encroach on the territory of the professional dog breeder. there is no reason to and there is no puppy shortage. you just get the little tyke nuetered and he will be quite happy.

What is the difference between Havanese and Maltese dogs?

February 28, 2010 - 6:25 pm 5 Comments

I know that Havanese can be larger than Maltese, and Maltese are only white, while Havanese have different colors.. but what other differences there are? I am deciding between those two for a pet..
I also want to ask anyone that has any of these two kinds- do they smell? Are they clean dogs and easy to take care of? do they learn easily?

Havanese are quite smart. They are a sturdier dog than the Maltese, so if you want your dog involved with outdoor activities, the Havanese would likely be a better choice. Our Havs go sailing with us and travel all over.

Both dogs need coat care, but both can be cut down to a Puppy cut leaving the head and tail long and the body at 2".

Because both breeds have hair, they don’t smell as much, BUT they have to be groomed. Mine are bathed and blow dried every couple of weeks. Generally they can go about a month before any odor is noticeable. Because they don’t shed, both breeds have to be brushed regularly – a good coat shouldn’t need to be brushed more often than every day or two. (This is for a dog that is not "blowing" coat, which they do as they mature and, if kept intact, every time a girl goes into season).

How fast does hair grow Maltese dogs?

February 26, 2010 - 5:28 pm 2 Comments

I’m planning on getting a Maltese soon and does anybody know how fast their hair grows? Thanks.

I have a very small maltese. Her hair grows pretty fast. One bit of advice if you let her hair grow you will have to brush constantly. Professional grooming is necessary because when they are wet their hair is like cotton candy. it wil mat at the skin and is impossible to brush out. Good luck they are awesome dogs!

how do you get rid of the stains on eyes on maltese dogs?

February 24, 2010 - 5:19 pm 6 Comments

my little baby (who is a dog) has tear stains under er eyes and i HATE THEM!!! i wipe them everyday and i have bought a few things that says they prevent them, but none of them work!!! please help!!!(btw she is a maltese puppy and she is about 2-3 weeks old)
oh whoops i ment 2-3 MONTHS im srry!

The best product to use is Angel Eyes. However do not use on a puppy. It will stain their teeth since it contains a natural fermented antibiotic. Just like with kids it will stain their teeth also. They typically have some eye stains & trimming the hair away will help but it is something you will have to get over. Maltese have a hereditary problem with their tear ducts & getting one that wasn’t health tested, there is no magic to make it disappear.

My Maltese dogs don’t use the dog door we got for them but go in the house instead.?

February 22, 2010 - 6:07 pm 5 Comments

My Maltese dogs don’t use the dog door we got for them but go in the house instead. They were trained to scratch at the door and we would let them out. Then when we got the dog door the don’t use it or scratch at the door. Instead they go everywhere in the house. My mom is threatening to give them away. HELP!!!!
My mom didn’t buy them.

Our puppy was afraid of the door. We started by taking off the flap and letting her run through the empty opening. Then we hung yarn strips in front of it so she had to run through that. Then we put up wax paper and finally put the dog door back on, but she is great now!

Do the Maltese breed of dogs make good pets?

February 20, 2010 - 6:26 pm 8 Comments

My partner and I are currently looking for a new pet and we’ve been looking at a great many different breeds. I’ve always loved Maltese dogs and she seems keen on the idea, could you give me some more information? what do I need to know about them?

Thank you very much for your help :)

OMG!!! I love Malteses. I can’t say enough good things about them and I speak from experience. I have had four Malteses in my life. I had a Maltese growing up for almost 14 years. She was so beautiful. She was a teacup so she was only three pounds. She was really sweet and friendly. Malteses are such beautiful dogs inside and out. The fun thing about Malteses is that they think they are ten feet tall and they aren’t afraid of anything. I had three other Malteses that I don’t have anymore because they came from puppy mills and were all overbred and had serious health issues. Please get your dog from a reputable breeder. You would love having a Maltese. She was a great companion. I have a Cockapoo now who is really great. He’s 24 lbs. I wanted a lap dog again but since I have young children I wanted a dog who could stand up to them. A Maltese is a more fragile dog because it is so small and can get under foot but if you don’t have kids or any big pets then you have nothing to worry about.
