How big do Maltese dogs get?

I am wanting to get a Maltese dog but I would first like to know how big they get. Do they usually stay small like a Yorki? or Are they bigger? Please if you own a Maltese or know about these kinds of dogs could you let me know.

I have a Maltese and she is full grown at three years old and 8.o lbs. She is quite slim. While she is slightly large for show-dog standards, she is very delicately boned, eight inches to the shoulder tall. I think that a Maltese who weighs more is probably overweight because my little girl is on the tall side for her breed, so I doubt you would find one bigger, only fatter.

The AKC breed standard is under 7 lbs, with a preference of 4-6 lbs.
