Is it better to own two maltese dogs versus one?
I have a absolutely adorable 6 month old maltese baby boy named Okie. My husband and I decided that we should purchase another one to keep him company. The new puppy is set to arrive next week. I am however a little concerned with having two puppies. Is it better to have two ? Any advice would be helpful. = )
I own two Maltese that were littermates and have been together since birth. I don’t regret getting two puppies at one time but there are some things to consider.
Training – it is hard to train two puppies at one time. Not only is it harder to maintain their attention but consider if you are teaching sit and one does and the other doesn’t. It is hard for them to recognize who you are praising and who you are correcting. House breaking is also twice as much work.
I would recommed you wait until Okie is a little further along in his training but if you get another Maltese while he is still young and you have properly socialized him then you shouldn’t need worry about him not getting along with another dog.
If you do go ahead and get another puppy now jsut make sure to spend time with them on an individual basis to promote bonding and training.
It is very wrong to set two dogs against one dog.

most dogs like to have another dog with them. if you get them as puppies. they will be no problem. if you get them when older. their might be rivalry. you are fine so considering you are getting them as puppies

They are very loud. I’d reccomand 2 though.
