My 2 small Maltese Dogs each got multiple teeth pulled out for their 2nd time, should they remain healthy?
It worries me because they both lost many teeth before, while going into the Veterinarian to get their teeth cleaned (some pulled out), and now even more have been removed. I need someone with dog knowledge or a Maltese owner to answer this question if possible. I just hope my dogs are still as safe and healthy as they were before.
What are you feeding them? Small dogs tend to be prone to early tooth loss. Sometimes it’s genetic, sometimes it’s because of a diet of nothing but soft, wet food. If your dogs can still chew solid kibble, feed that and nothing else. Provide raw bones or busy bones or other such chew toys for them to play with, and consider brushing their teeth at least once a week, if not once a day.
Your dogs will be fine if you take care of their teeth. Be sure their overall health is good. They can lose all their teeth and still be fine, they’d just obviously be in a soft diet.
They were not healthy before because teeth had to get pulled. You should be taking better care of their teeth. Feed a better food and brush regularly.

You did not mention their age, but if plaque was allowed to build up enough for them to require professional cleaning the teeth were most likely already damaged to a point where they had to come out to prevent abscess from forming.
I always clean my dogs teeth, starting when they are puppies and I do it 2 or 3 times a week and more if needed. They are quite good about getting their teeth brushed using the doggy tooth paste. This will prevent their needing a professional cleaning later on.
