Someone told me that Maltese dogs where originally breed for food?

I have had friend with one as a pet and they are one of the most friendly dog that I have meet.

I have no idea what breed of dog the people of Malta ate when they ran out of food during the German blockade of WW I I, but they were eating dogs and horses too.
And it is no secret that the Chinese have been using animals that we consider pets as food for centuries. I honestly do not have a problem with that, and it’s really none of my business anyway. We eat cows and in certain parts of the world that makes us blasphemers.

  1. Recent studies have shown that cats and dogs were domesticated for food, not just Maltese. It started in China, and that is why some people in China still eat cats and dogs today.

  4. The Maltese was bred to be a companion. And they’re good at it — these can be really lovely, fun dogs!
