Can 2 pet quality dogs have a show quality dog?
Can 2 AKC pet quality, dogs of the same breed have a "show quality dog"? I was wondering since show dogs can have pet quality.
If the pet quality dogs are themselves offspring of high-quality dogs, it is POSSIBLE, but rare, for them to produce a show quality puppy.
Anything is possible its just not likely

no must be pure bred

I’m pretty sure only champion bloods can have show dogs, however, any dog that has been bred by a kennel club member and/or a breed club can produce a show dog.

It depends on the genetics.
If you’ve got 2 pet quality sub standard dogs with homozygous recessive traits for something that goes against standard, then no, because they will pass those traits onto the pups.
But if the genetics work out so that the "against standard" genes do not get passed on, then it’s possible.
Still it is more likely for 2 show quality dogs to produce show quality pups than 2 pet quality.

Highly unlikely. Basic genetics, the odds of a dog possessing desirable traits and not showing them are slim. If you wanted a white dog, would you breed 2 black dogs? Not likely. Pet quality dogs rarely have "hidden" genes that are desirable, breeding 2 pet quality dogs will only get you more pet quality dogs, each generation with less and less desirable traits. The dog has to HAVE the good genes in order to pass them along. A show quality dog has the good genes, because he or she is displaying them. Breeding 2 dogs with visible good genes is the most reliable way to get more dogs with the same traits. Sure, not every puppy from show quality parents will be show quality. But the odds are far higher than breeding pet quality dogs.

I would say it’s rear.
But just remember, "show quality" dogs came from just an average dog to begin with.

I would agree with Greygarious, as if the parents are show quality, then the pet quality pups will share the same pool of genes as their show quality littermates. However, I would not recommend breeding them deliberately unless they have other valuable characteristics, such as excellent working skills and instincts. Futureairlinepilot, you will never pass the exams for your CPL if you don’t learn how to read questions.

Pet quality purebreds have flaws that the judge would count against them. It could be the head shape, the length of body to legs, wrong coloring, wrong size (undersize as well as too large), or any of a thousand other things. The chance of two of them having a show quality pup is pretty low since both are going to be passing on the faults they have in them.
I wouldn’t count on it happening.
