Do pet dogs enjoy watching any kind of television when they are home alone all day?
I’m going to buy a pet dog soon & I’m trying to learn what I can about dogs first
Dogs don’t do well being left alone for long periods at a time. If you are not willing to find someone to come over and let them out and give them some socialization during the day. I really don’t think a dog is a good choice. Cats do better when left alone for long periods of time and less maintenance they can be litter box trained. If you are not able to properly care for an animal at this time I would wait until you can devote your time and love for them. They deserve every minute they get.
All I know is that my dog has absolutely NO INTEREST in anything that is on the TV. He does not even react to dogs barking on some shows.

My dog likes Food Network, Animal Planet (naturally), and Gossip Girl…. I don’t know why she likes watching TV… But if it makes her happy why stop?
But why are you getting a dog if you’re leaving all day?

I agree that you need to be with the dog instead of just leaving him home all day, unless you are getting a really old dog that doesn’t need as much activity, then you should really re-think the dog thing.
Dogs are not like children and can not be entertained through tv, and they will tear your house up if they are bored. I recommend going to local dog training clubs so you learn more about dogs before you jump into this since about 5 million dogs get put down every year to owners who don’t know a thing about dogs…
My dog likes the T.V but she isn’t like a kid

First of all people, ask a question. Sam didn’t say that he/she would be gone every day all day. If Sam is getting a puppy that needs to be potty trained, I doubt he/she plans to be gone all day every day or even 5/7.
I have never had a dog that liked to watch TV while I was gone. For sound a radio would work just as well. Mine normally sleep by the door waiting for me to come home. It became so regular that I bought doggie pillows for them to sleep on in the hallway there.

Get fish or a hamster or even a kitten if you are not going to be home. Dogs need exercise and entertainment. My Rescue Chihuahua was afraid of the TV, when I first brought her home. Now that she knows it will not get her, she ignores it. She will watch parts of Cartoons or flashing commercials briefly but she has no real interest in it now. She shows a brief interest in a door mirror more than anything, She really likes her "skinny toys" best. She plays every day with a durable Opossum and a fat plastic cookie that she tosses and bounces and squeaks. She also has a squeaky plush bone that she pushed under the bureau and no one can see it.

Some dogs do, some dogs don’t. My dog only reacts to when the tv does a click sound when it turns on and off. And of course the dogs barking on there sometimes. He never had an interest in anything like a tv or computer screen. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen those funny videos where dogs are watching something on tv and are jumping at it or something. (:
