Why are the dry dog foods making dogs sick and die currently?

April 30, 2010 - 9:29 am 3 Comments

I just bought new dog food for my dog, I wanted to know because I bought a commercial brand. Why is the food bad?

Most dog food is okay. the problem you are refering to
arose because some companies bought supplies from
China. the chinese aren’t as tight on the policing of
products made for export and the word is let the buyer
beware, there are some very unethical companies that improve the profit margin by cheating on shipments and
food and drug products made with them in America are
substandard and/or toxic.

Tainted wheat gluten from China is the problem. Melamine, a plastic, added to the wheat gluten is the culprit. Melamine has a higher concentration of nitrogen, which happens to be an indicator of protien value. There are two Chinese companies that added melamine to their wheat gluten, making it appear more protien nutritious.

    Complete list of recalls:

The death toll is up to 4,474 dogs AND cats. The source has been linked to a wheat gluten, imported from China, that was laden with melamine, a chemical used for plastics, fertilizers and flame retardants.
